About Anna Karapetyan

Anna was born in Armenia, and after a brief and unsuccessful immigration to Russia at the age of 8, they decided to move their life to Argentina when she was 10 years old.

Looking to start a new life and work towards a better future, her parents worked hard to build a life in Argentina, but the volatile political and economic situation forced them to move once again. This led them to Canada when Anna was 14 years old. For the past 20 years they have called Canada home.

Her arrival to Canada coincided with the start of high school. She immersed herself in studying and adapting to a new country and language. She graduated as an Honor Roll student and Valedictorian of her class, and continued on to University with no clear path ahead. She was so lost and unmotivated in university that she only cared about graduating and moving forward, to whatever “serious” job she could find.

Anna found herself working at Big Brothers Big Sisters, a non-for-profit organization, working for a wonderful cause, but in an uninspiring and boring position that made her miserable. Throughout her university years, she worked at a spa to pay for her tuition. That job really awakened her interest in makeup artistry and working one-on-one with people. However, she hadn’t considered pursuing this path professionally as she saw it as an uncertain and unstable way to make a living.

It wasn’t until 2 years into her position at BBBS when she was laid off due to funding issues, that she saw it as a sign from the universe to give makeup artistry a go. Being laid off allowed her to receive unemployment benefits to support her financially while she worked on building and growing her business as an artist. Anna finally found her true passion, and have since worked on learning and expanding her skill set to cater to clients from all cultural backgrounds and service requirements.

Eventually, Anna found herself working very closely within the Sri Lankan community in Toronto and had built a large clientele within that community. Presently, she mostly works with brides, and teaches the Art of Bridal Beauty (Makeup, Hairstyling and Styling).

Anna consistently works on finding a balance between her personal life with two small children, and her professional life. Find her on Instagram to learn all about bridal beauty!
